Welcome to the world of The Assassin’s Legacy! Let’s talk about Ernie’s Garage, Aeron’s sanctuary that becomes such an important part of the books. For this we are focusing just on book one—when we meet them. We do have a an Aeron short story that shows how Aeron ends up at Ernie’s—if you are curious.

Crafting new characters is such a trip, and while drafting this blog, I’ve started to question my own sanity just a bit. You see, I’m a plantser—a person who mostly pantses (aka writes as the story comes to them) with just a sprinkle of plotting to keep the chaos somewhat on track. I never really know what’s going to happen, or who’s going to show up on the page until they do. And when they do? It’s like a whip.

As an indie author, one of the things that surprises people most about The Assassin’s Legacy series is that it has audiobooks. Like, actual, full-production audiobooks—with a professional narrator and everything.

Then the questions arises: Why? The short version—because I’ve always loved audiobooks.

Some characters have a concentrated vibe—their stories are heavy, their emotions laser-focused, and their arcs clear from the start. But Izz? She’s a whirlwind of contradictions. She’s the kind of woman who walks into a room and immediately commands attention, radiating confidence, danger, and an edge of unpredictability. She’s sexual, she’s badass, she’s broken—and every song on her playlist peels back another layer of who she really is.

There’s always this big push in January to go, go, go—which feels wildly out of sync with what most of us actually want to do in the middle of winter. We want to sit wrapped in blankets, next to a fire. Hibernate. Gather ourselves before spring.

What would happen if we tossed all of our beloved characters into a Hallmark movie-esque scenario where they had to be cordial to each other with mandatory participation in gift swapping? Chaos and hilarity. 

We’re mashing the generations together, and bringing some people back from the dead for a Very Merry Legacy Holiday.
